Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): My fish is a crown tail betta. I picked hime up from wallmart in may of last year, I wanted to take him out of the dirty little cup! I've knowtised that his tail has grown together and the little bones in it appier to be brocen and/or contorted. This was only on a small portion of his tail fin when I got him. I thought it was a wound or somethign and that it would heal with a clean environment and time. I knowwtised the bones on his tail where starting to look contorted, and parts of his finnage looked pulled in july of last year. I thought this might be because he was injering himself on his plastic plants. I removed most of them and replaced them with fabric ones. Well, that didn't work. I have now knowtised that the tip of his dorsal fin looks white. I think it is just a dead portion, not infected. He has been acting normal, This is why I havent posted about this untill now. He has gotten a little more aggressive over the time that I have had him, but I thought that might be normal?
I also have a question about the food I am feeding him. I feed him Bettamin tropical, made by tetra, medley for most of the week. I also feed him Freeze-dried bloodworms, by topfin, one or two times a week. Is this good, or are there some other foods I should also be feeding him?

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25% water changes once ever week or two.

A picture I took of him right after I got him. You can't really see it, but there is a section of his tailfin where the little bones aren't separated, like on other betta tail tipes.

Thank you in advance for all of your help!

White edging to tail is finrot.
Do you mean the fin rays have broken.
I would add a bacterial med.
Buy new heater as the temp is abit high.
Need water stats.
Freeze dried foods can make fish bloat up.
He's need a more varied diet of frozen foods like brimstrimp and daphnia which is good for digesting a fish food.
Introduce some green veg into his diet like peas, broc, sproats, spinach, green cabbage.
Garlic juice good for boosting a fish immune system. You just soak flakes in the garlic juice.

Wilder,
did you see the before and after photos in the post before replying? i see NO issue in those fins other than a bit of curling which is common when bettas fins heal up quickly after being taken out of poor water conditions. he looks beautiful and heaLthy and the "white" around the fins is not white. it is pale purple looking (at least on my computer screen) and coincides with his natural coloration. i would in no way medicate that fish with anything. I do agree about feeding some peas though. they like em a lot and it's good for digestion.
HE IS A BEAUTY!
cheers for the new year!

I see what you mean about the bones in the pic, don't think there much you can do if there not infected.
Cloudy looking edges can be finrot but if you think he's ok don't add a med.
I would test your water to make sure the water stats are all that they should be.
I would try the garlic to perk him up.

Thank you both for your help. I will pick him up some pees and garlic juce when I am at the store next week.
I got his water stats and they are normal.
Nitrate: 0
Ammonia: 0
And PH: 7.6
Pahoran (my betta) thanks you too!

The water stats are normal and there doesn't appear to be any finrot. The curling on the tail fin happens quite a lot when fins regrow after being damaged. If it's part of the length of the fin, instead of a few rays torn out of the middle of it, the rays often curl or fuse as they regrow. It doesn't look too pretty, but there's nothing you can do about it. He's a very pretty betta!

A closer shot of the thing on his dorsal fin you're worried about would be good, because if it's only just appeared it MIGHT be a problem - betta's fins don't change colour when they are fully grown. However, it is not uncommon for a damaged section of a fin to regrow paler, and possibly stay that way - it could have been that he tore a tiny piece of the fin off somehow and you didn't notice, but now that it's regrowing it's paler than the rest of the fin and easier to see. I don't think there's anything wrong with him.
