Please Help Me Identify This Plant...

This came in from the petshop with one of my fish when they scooped him up. I believe this to be Hornwort. Am I correct in assuming this? I just tossed it in my tank to see if it would grow. Should I put it in the gravel? It is pretty short.

It looks like hornwort to me as well, a little thin on the growth, but it's not a myriophylum. Too thick for that.

Check it out now! This stuff grows like mad!! I had to anchor it in the sand cause it was getting tangled in all my plants. I have no idea how long it is, but I estimate it would stretch out at 2-3 feet. It started out at 2 inches or so. I figured out that the growth rate is approx .25"/day. Easier to grow than Java Moss.

It does grow like a weed haha. Trim it and replant several small 2" trimmings again and you'll have miles and miles of the stuff growing in your tank.

Defo Hornwort, I put some in my sons 24litre with very very low lighting and no other additives and its now taking over the tank lol.

Yeah, that stuff grows better than anything else I have. I use ferts in my tank too, so I'm sure that helps. I couldn't even imagine how fast it would grow if I added CO2.
