Honey gourami is at top of tank?
Hi ive had my honey gourami for a couple of months or so. Yesterday he was still at the top of the tank. Then later in the evening he moved. Still at top of tank but in corner above the filter, and still there today. Usually he stays in plants if he s not swimming around. Is he dying or ill. Water levels are all good

Need to know your water levels.size of tank age of tank etc.

Do you notice any bubbles (nest).
Can you place a pic?

Hi the tank is 33 galons.
Nitate 25
Amonia and nitrite 0
Gh 7
Ph 7.2
He's male im pretty positive. No bubble nest.
How do i post pics?

Is he feeding?.anything been added to tank recently?

Nothing has been added lately. Ive noticed today he has white lips. I think it may be mouth rot. Is this contagious

Mouth fungus is a bacterial infection and should be treated as such.
Can you remove and treat?

You can add a picture of the fish by clicking the reply button within this thread and when the word processor loads up you would need to scroll down to the 'Attach Files' section. Click on the 'Choose File' button and locate any images you have of the fish (assuming you have already taken a photo) followed by clicking Ok. Finally click the 'attach this file' button.

Mouth rot generally starts with a visible red line on periphery of the mouth. The redness will then become more widespread followed by the mouth losing its colour and rotting. If mouth rot can be confirmed then personally I would advice you place the fish in a separate aquarium of around 30-40 litres and dose the water with an anti-bacterial treatment. A good anti-bacterial treatment is called Myaxin by Waterline. You would want to do a 100% water change on this aquarium daily so as to keep the water as clean as possible.

Thank you all for your help. I went out to get some treatment but unfortunately when i got home he had died. Such a shame. I hate it when the fish get ill. j Love my gouramis such little characters

So sorry for your loss. Be sure to do a thorough vacuum of the substrate to remove any rotten pieces that may have come away from the mouth. From experience, if other fish were to eat this they can develop bacterial infections too (mainly bacterial Popeye).
