background info first:
I have a 55 gal. aquarium. It is crystal clear and there is no
problem with ph or ammonia. I test for both frequently. I have one
of those bio wheel filters (Emperor) with two bio wheels, that seems
to work great. I have (5) angels that I bought quite small, that have
grown considerably and are beautiful. I also have in the tank (7)
corys, (2) plecos, (4) serpaes, (2) bettas (separated of course in
hanging containers), (3) congo tetras and (2) white cloud minnows
(that's another problem I will address later!).
My first problem is that one of my angels has all of a sudden started
rejecting food. He (or she) takes the food into their mouth and then
spits it back out. I feed all the fish a flake food in the morning
and then in the evening I feed them either frozen brine shrimp,
mosquito larvae or bloodworms. They all have always eaten eagerly on
this diet and have thrived but now, just in the last 3 weeks maybe,
one angel has balked at all food. I bought frozen tubifex and frozen
daphnae, thinking this might help, but they both have failed to
tempt. I'm very distressed about this. I don't want to lose my
angel. Any clues or insight would be greatly appreciated. Please
help me figure this out and solve this problem!
My second problem is that today I bought (7)small to medium rosy
barbs. I thought I had researched this thoroughly and this
particular barb was peaceful and could be a successful new inhabitant
of my tank. Well, these new guys chase everybody! They're so
hyperactive and are causing my angels additional stress that I don't
think is good. What are your thoughts on this? Should I take them
out? They are quite beautiful, but act like they are OD'ing on
hormones or something. I don't think they are actually being
agressive, but they chase everyone from the corys to the angels and
the angels don't act amused by their antics. Should I separate
them? It will be a hassle. I have an empty 30gal. Would it be
better to take out the barbs or move the angels!
My third problem is the white clouds. I originally had a grouping of
(6) or so. They always seem to be healthy and thriving and then I
will start noticing that certain individuals with start wasting
away. They will get emaciated and then die. What am I doing wrong?
Am I wrong to keep them with the fish I house them with? Should they
be kept at cooler temps? Is that the problem? Please advise.
Thanks to anyone who can help me with my questions. I know the
people who visit these sites are the best source of information I
could hope for. I really appreciate your assistance.
