Please Dont Hate Me

fishless cycling is easy and more humane. please try and do it this way, if not now in the future

some people can be so rude, there's just no need for it..

if you have added seeded media and the fish are small then what's the problem?? if he comes back after a week and his stats are fine are you still going have a problem???

if you get your dad to test your stats in a week (or less) and they are fine then job done m8 :good: , you will be able to relax for the weeks your away and enjoy stocking it when you get back, if the stats are a little of ask your dad to do a water change and take a couple of fish out..

now lets be friendly guys and give him some advice NOT rudeness.

Kev

i wasnt being rude, i was making a point that fishless cycling is more humane. that is my own opinion, just as you are making your opinion known :)

if your dad has been keeping fish for years surely he would know how to do a fishless cycle? If he didnt know he would figure it out as its so easy! Thats coming from someone who has only had fish for a year

Not likely. fishless cycling has only been around for the last 5 years or so, most old school keepers just believe in stocking the tank gradually.

That might be your opinion, but you presented it as fact.

As previously pointed out, the best answer is to put cycled media in the tank with a couple of fish. Once you have one tank set up you don't need to cycle a tank ever again.

yup, nothing at all cruel about adding fish to a tank immediately after puttng mature media in. that's how i set up tanks now.

if you add media you instantly cycle the tank, the goldies aren't in any danger from a cycling perspective.

if yo can get your dad to monitor water quality and do normal feeding and maintenance over the month until your home there shouldn't be any problems at all.
