Apistogramma Playdoh, can't find it in any of the Tropical Fish Books, must be rare.

Hey Jer
Just while your there, Are you able to obtain a good selection of fish in Poland or are you limited for choice. If you went into your lfs what fish would you expect to see. write a list. Just to compare what we would expect in the UK.
Thanks.....

hahaha...ur rite CTS, WAY too much time. After i made the GERMAN BLUE RAM (whoever got this rite give yourself a pat on the back, and go out to ur lfs and buy urself a blue ram, cos they are madd) i was thinking i shud really get a life. haha.

i went to my local supermarket to stock up my fridge, snack cabinet and to buy those nylon stockings for my peat granules and while at the stockings section i saw some playdoh!!! i didnt know they had playdoh near undies and stockings etc. well i thought i will buy it anyways cos i havnt played with playdoh for a very long time. (i am 18 turning 19 this year btw). I got back to my place and decided to make a RAM! Its not a usual thing i do, makin rams and playing with kiddie stuff....jus to set things straight..hahaha

Oh and BigC, in poznan i only know of 2 pet stores that hav good, healthy fish.
I can find the following fish in the one i go to more (jus off the top of my head)

RAMS, agassiziis, cockatoos, yellow dwarf cichlids and a couple other apistos i hav seen. apisto selection is much better than australia (around my area anyways)
All these different african them malawi thing cichlids, kribs.
firemouths, keyholes...etc. many cichlids.
Discus, angels

many tetras, including the popular cardinals, phantom, emporer, glowlight, congo, neons, black widow......etc.
Hatchets(marbled and silver only)

pencil fish, several kinds, including golden, this other one which looks alot like golden, rocket.
spotted headstanders

Danios- zebra, leopard, giant...and a couple of others i think. not that many.
Barbs.

piranahs, silver dollars.

the PLECO selection is much better than the lfs in australia i used to goto.
Royal whip, red whip, common whip, gold nugget plec, bristlenose, common plec, albino common/bristlenose plec, royal plec, once i saw a zebra, and some others i dont know the name of. (or i cant remember) BUT THIS IS ONLY IN ONE OF THE SHOPS.
ottos.

plenty of corys. at least 9 different choices i would say.

not many oddities. Phantom Butterfly fish, black ghost knives, elephant nose, spiny eels are pretty much the weirdest fish i have seen here. OH NO WAIT theres leaf fish too i saw once. ONLY ONE SHOP STOCKS ODDITIES (but the eels are everywhere). not so odd but cool- halfbeaks.

common livebearers such as sword, platies, guppies, but not as much color selection compared to australia.

Brakish water fish including orange chromides, scats, monos, green spotted puffers (NOT ALWAYS IN STOCK)

several synodontis (ok selection i reckon)

most common gouramis, no honey, chocolate, sparkling, croaking, moonlight...yes blue, golden, pearl, dwarf, neon dwarf. not so great selection.

Other randoms include, hoplo cats (common) kuhli (not common, only seen ONE in one shop) Horse face loach (common), siamese algea eaters (not that common)....etc etc...gettin bored listing.

OVERALL, i would say polish (poznan) stock could be MUCH better. Although i hav seen more apistos here than Sydney, australia. but the fish are very common in my opinion.
Germany is close by, do they hav good fish???? alot of aquarium product brands are from germany rite???? German blue rams!!??? wot really is the difference between german blue rams and blue rams anyway?

is the list of fish fish u would easily find in the UK???? which fish are u interested in knowing whether poznan has or not?

Hi Jer
Thats an impressive list, pretty much the same as what I would expect in the UK
I'm a Killifish fanatic myself and have been for the last 25yrs. and at one point in my hobby I had a Fish-House with 100 tanks of one size or another. Almost took over my life. Became too much work in the end and pulled out of the hobby altogether. Just returned and have set up one tank in the living room of our new house. No plans for any more. Yet!!!

100!!!! wow!

I have seen a couple of different kinds of killifish here i think, but very little of them.

i have a tank set up for my turtles, which are the first pets i got after i moved to poland, but now, i am thinking about returning my turts and turnin their tank into another planted tank! Most likely keep dwarf cichlids in that too! Right now i have 3 tanks and one extra to run when i need to quarentine fish.

When i moved here none of the friends i made kept fish, but now, nearly half of my friends here keep fish! one even has 3 tanks runnin as well!!! this is just too addictive!!
