I have purchased some platys 4 to be exact and I'm wondering if my fighter fish will get along with them he keeps flarin up and showing his beard at some of them!????

NO. If he is flaring at them, he may be getting ready to take a hunk out of one of your platies. Remove the betta immediately. While some betta will do fine with other species, for many, this behavior is the precursor to dead or very injured fish. Do not put it off any longer. Move your betta right now.

I have a crowntail who loved his guppy and platy friends. They did very well together. I tried a different betta and he displayed the same behavior yours is showing and chased down one of the guppies. We moved the betta before he could reach a guppy, but it was very close. My crowntail is pretty uncommon though. Move your fish.

Thanks a lot I've separated him from the rest now just before I did he did take one o the scales off my platy the little **** ha..thanks for the advice :)

Finding tank mates for a betta can be a minefield - I gave up in the end as Maedhros has a small tank which wouldn't be suitable for most fish. Snails generally do OK with bettas (though some bettas will nip at the snail's eyestalks); corydoras also seem to be a safe choice, although nothing's foolproof. Some people have success putting bettas with platies, mollies and even guppies, but it's very risky.
