hi there, i have a female platy and she is grey with alomst illuminous orange fin you can only see if light is dhining directly onto it. i thought she was normal (i thought females were completely basic e.g no colour like mine) until i saw my mates.

im sorry i have no pics will try soon but was just wondering maybe if you could tell me what type she is, any help is thanked,

luke

Sorry would have to see a pic TBH, But there are a huge amount of colour variates out there.

Its only really with guppies the male is more vibrant than the female. Platies are generally the same whether they are male or female.

That is what i thought so that's why i posted the topic. i was thinking it may be a hybrid but im probably wrong

i have some pics to help

Their both platys, a red wag and a blue, no crossbreed's but loverly fish still

I should also say that the two will cross breed though as all platies can cross

ok thanks its just that my lfs said she was heavily pregnant???
and iv'e had her well over a month

yer i probably did because she was fatter than this but i thought some would survive. i have 2 fake plants for them to hide in???

I've found rocks with gaps in between them work better if they are all over the tank. That way the fry have a place to escape to at all times along the whole tank.
