Platy Vs Molly

I think I know the answer, but just wanted to check with any experts that happen to be looking. Just watching my tank earlier, and one of my male platys was attempting to inseminate two of my female mollies. Am I right in believing that these two species cannot hybridize?

you are right the two can't breed, but as you see it doesn't stop them trying
