Hey everyone!

My platy is having trouble eating, she spits her food out everytime I feed her. This is a kind of disease right? Her droppings are clear and stringy. I read about theis somewhere but they didn't state the cure for it. The last couple of days she was also hideing a lot but she swim around right now.

Help please!

Our fish sometimes chew their food and spit it back out, its ok as long as they are eating

Im not too sure about the clear poo, white poo is a sign of internal parasites. Is it definitly clear?

My platy was passing clear poo when I suspected she had an internal bacteria infection/or parasites (she also had finrot on her tail). Then again, I was never sure that it was parasites or if she was also constipated. Is yours eating at all? As Allix says they all spit out food from time to time- but is she keeping any in? Have you tried her with peas in case she is constipated? If that doesn't shift it, I suppose it may be parasites- so come back and hopefully more qualified people than I will be able to help you.

Clear white/stringy poo is a common symton of internal bacteria, try "anti internal bacteria" by Interpet to treat it

White long stringy poo can be a bacteria infection, or internal parasites, which livebearers are prone to, is the anus red inflamed.

I think it is signs of internal parasites. The poo is clear like a string. I have two platy a female and a male, they were both the same size when I brought them but the female is loseing a lot of weight. Platy are round and stubby but now she is slim and looks like a female sword tail. Here anus is not red but it look bright white. Is that normal. I feed her some blood worms, looks like she did take small bites but I didn't see her spit it out.

well thanks you guys!

Another other treatments? Would salt help?

I would issolate them with the internal parasites if you can, what's your location for meds.

So the internal parasites can spead to other fishs of the same and different species?

I don't have another tank right now, if I get the medication can I just put her in a bucket of tank water and let her sit there for a hour or more?

I have ick , fugus medications and salt right now. Would those work, if not I'll just go to get the right medications.

Best to medicate the whole tank with internal parasites, then getting a med is hard if you live in the uk, then meds don't always clear it up, it depends on which parasite it is, and how infested they are with it, as worms can also cause bacteria problems in the fish.

But I have snails. frogs, corys and live plants in there! wouldn't the meds harm them? I live in the U.S
the home of thousands/millons of petcos and petmarts.

Well the frogs and snails would have to be removed, then check in the instructions if it's ok for corys, or even half dose, clout is a med in the states for internal parasites, but it dosn't always work.

Clout

Since I can't afford to treat the whole tank because I have frogs and snails in there I will use fresh-squeezed garlic as mention in the website.

thanks for everyone's help....

Garlic is safe for everything in my tank right? for the frogs and snails? Live plants?

I heard garlic makes the fish taste horrble to the parsites> Any thruth to that ? Or does it just boost their immune system? and helps them eat better...

Or is there any other methods to cure my fish without harming my corys/snails and frogs? I can't put them in another tank because I have no room to do so.
