Platy Problem?

Hi Dave
Have just finished treating my tank for whitespot (Platys bought it into mine too). I did a water change on the 7th day, about 20% and put new carbon into the filter to clean the medicine out of the water.
Good luck

 I think it'll be Ok as I noticed it so quickly. I look forward to the day when the tank will be stocked and settled, which I sure will not be to far away.

Just an update:-

The white spot on my female platy has gone! :kana:

All the other fish have NO signs of white spot! :D

And the female Platy that had white spot has given birth to at least 8-10 fry, well that I can see. I have no fry food or place to put them  , so I have to let nature take it's course. :fish: She still looks like she has a bit of a belly after giving birth yesterday?!

Any way, I have just finished a Good 25% water change and have retreated the tank to make sure that every bit of the white spot is gone.

Last night everything looked great, but it changed this morning. Switched the light on and the female platy was sitting on the bottom with her gills going quite fast. She look slim and had no marks, so I thought she was just worn out from giving birth. But then she didn't eat it made me think but there was nothing I could do so I went to work. :-( When I got home she had died :rip: :byebye: .

I have do the water tests and everyone of them is spot on, so I can only think that she had a problem giving birth to the last of her fry. Now I hope that Mother Nature gives 1 or 2 of the fry the strength to survive.

Sorry for your loss, R.I.P. if you ever have to preform a water change while medicating, just add the correct amount of med back to the water removed.

don't feel bad. almost the same thing happened to me. except I bought 4 platies and at least one of them must have been pregnant (I couldn't tell) I noticed ich in the tank the next day and medicated and the babies came the next day. all the babies died (along withall the platies) except fot 2 who i thought might have some deformities from the medicine but they seemed fine and grew for 2 months. then one died so i have one left. (hes so cute!) and hes almost full grown.

Platyfreek, I still have about 8 fry and from what I can see all look OK :D . But as you said, they might not survive for very long :( . So I'll have to enjoy them when they are alive!
