I have raised and bred guppies for a very long time now but I just recently got into platys. I have 4 red platys and one of my females is for sure pregnant. I was just wondering if she would isolate herself when she's close to dropping her fry. I noticed my guppies did that and my platy is starting to do that. Is this normal for all live bearers. Sry for sounding like a newb lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, no replies but my assumption was right. My platy gave birth to beautiful little babies. Luckily I caught it in time to save every fry she dropped. Thanks for the help anyways.

I just stumbled on this but no, not all livebearers are the same. The hiding I have seen in guppies, mollies and platies but I do not see it very often in my goodeids. My Heterandria formosa seem to hide much of the time even if they are not ready to deliver. The limias seem to act more like mollies than anything else.
I am happy you caught the platy delivering. I have had lots of platies breed and never actually seen a drop in progress.
