Platy Poo

I recently has some platy's breed (oddly both parents died but the fry survived).

I moved the fry into another tank and all 7 of them are thriving. The strange thing is, they constantly seem to have a long trail of poo hanging from them. and the tank is requiring regular cleaning due to the amount of it!

Is this normal? Any advice would be much appreciated.

A long as the poo's colour is normal and your not over feedig them .

Yeah, food processing rate is higher when fish are young and growing, which includes higher waste production (but the fish are smaller, so overall may not represent more waste seen by the aquarium system.)

platys are well known poo machines!!!

any tank requires regular maintenance though, you should be looking to maintain the tank once a week, there's a pinned topic at the top of this forum which gives a step by step guide to what to do which may be of help to you.
