Hey guys! So one of my newer platies gave birth 2 weeks ago to roughly 25-30 adorable little fry!! But now she is looking quite pregnant again (almost as much as the day before she have birth last time). I know that they can hold sperm for ages and I have heard that platies can hold several generations of fry at a time but I wasn't sure how accurate this info about multiple generations was. Anyone else had this happen?

Sorry no pics, she's a shy one but she's got the pre-birth square tummy and the eyes are clearly visible through her tummy.

If the water is warm females can be preg for only 3 weeks (took 23 days for my one female guppy before).  And yes, mine would have numerous batches after one breeding.  This goes for platies, guppies, and mollies.  (probably many other livebearers too-I just don't want to name them all!) :p

I wouldn't worry-she's probably just going to have fry again in a week or two! :D

I agree!  Although you may not be seeing eyes, when people see a "gravid spot" it is really the fish's insides.  Males can have them and even virgin females can have this so called "gravid spot".   Just letting you know. :)

Pretty sure they are the eyes based on research and past experience :p Of course I could be wrong but after extensive google imaging I think it's the eyes. She's got dots all over her side :) Either way, it's rather funny looking.
