I have 1 month old panda platies would it be okay to put them with new born fry. They are platies as well putting them in a mash net until I but my new tank to dedicate it for fry. Also what is a good age range to put fry together in a mildly planted tank. Thanks for the help: )

ADDED them in ended up losing a fry, I guess III have to divide them by month of age.

Yes, adult Platies will eat fry, reguardless of species. If they can fit them in their mouth they'll eat them. If you want to save the fry you'll need a seperate fry tank and you'll need to keep then in that tank for at least two months or untill they're to big to be eaten.

Yeah that's what I was going by, which is why I put them they where the month old platies were and their mouth didn't look like it could swallow then whole. They started picking at the one fry until they finally killed it. :/

Platies, and a lot of other Fish, can extend their gape by dislocating their 'jaw'. Sometimes you can see it when they yawn. I think maybe they were trying to eat the fry, and killed it by keeping it up. Or it could even be that they were just overly curious by this new tiny wiggly thing. But it probably just looked like food to them and so they were trying to eat it.
