My platy was showing many signs that she was near birth so I bought a breeding net and put her inside is this the right thing to do? She is squared off as people say and being antisocial and many others including me seeing the youngs eyes in her so does this sound near about a 1-48 hour birth timeframe?

Breeding traps tend to stress the fish out a lot. You'd be better off letting nature take its cause and trying to catch a few of the fry.

It does sound like imminent birtg, but I agree with UKSPEED, in that breeding traps tend to stress out the mother, potentially causing miscarriage and even death of the mother.

If you can put her in a separate tank, or perhaps use a divider in the current tank, to allow her some space without the hassle from the other fish, then that will be beneficial.

Release mom from the net and ad lots of cover for the fry. Fake plants, realy plants, rocks.....etc. She will become very stressed in the net.

I just took her out she was in there about 14 hours

10 of those were overnight with light off though

Although I prefer to use a drop tank, with only the female in it, for a fry drop, many people have used breeding nets and traps for many years with good success. It does sound like you have a platy nearing a drop but there is nothing wrong with a short stay in a breeder if you want to improve the fry survival rate.
I frankly almost never use anything but cover for fry because I would end up with more fish than I could easily move on.
