Platy fry!!

Last night, I moved my pregnant sunburst platy into a seperate tank because I knew that she would deliver soon. This morning, she gave birth and had 25 fry!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's awesome. I love fry. They are hilarious to watch. I have a pregnant female Mickey Mouse Platy that looks like she might give birth in a week or so. Hopefully this time I'll be able to save more fry!

Hi Sasha. You say in your post that you moved her because you knew she was about to give birth - how?! I'm really new to this but my big girl has been pregnant now for about 4 weeks. The gravid spot is really black and I'm looking out for fry eyes in her belly all the time as suggested by someone else but can't distinguish anything!

Any help would be brilliant

Yes, that night I could see the fry's eyes very clearly and that was a sign that she was going to deliver very soon. I didn't want to wait to move her the next day because I knew that she was due soon, so I just set up my 1 gallon tank with some breeding grass and large gravel. Hope this helps!

Got one baby! Been watching the 'mums' very carefully but no sign of eyes, however I've just found a baby so have moved him into the breeding net.

Seem to spend all my time sitting watching the tank!
