Once my platy has her fry can i put them in a 3 gallon tank until they are big enough to realease into my big tank.

Can i do this or is the tank to small for them i just dont want to leave them in a breeder box because ammonia builds up in there.

Yes, make sure the 3 gallon is fully cycled and has a filter (sponge) and add plants for shelter. You may need a heater as temperature fluctuations would stress the fry.

Ok already have all of that and it is already cycled. Thanks!

Great! Congratulations on your fry :)

I kept mine in a heated and filtered bare bottom 5G. It made cleaning a lot easier.

There really isn’t much of a need to separate them as long as you have somewhere for them to hide, like plants. In my 40 gal I have a pile of rocks in the corner and the fry drop down into it and then in a day or two they start to come out.
