Platy Danger I think?

My platy is getting fat I herd someone called it almost like a double chim, The problem is she doesn't have a gravid spot. So does that mean shes sick or she really is going to have babies. I think shes pregnant. So please help me!

Gravid spots don't always show. My orange wagtail has never shown anything like one, but she's had at least 3 batches of fry! So, finger crossed, this will be a happy occasion!

Yep, gravid spots can be an orange/pink colour depending on the colour of the fish, is she yellow or orange by any chance? When she is within a week or so of giving birth you might be able to see black dots inside, these are the eyes of the fry. Or, if she's black or a tuxedo then you won't see the gravid spot at all.

Check her scales too, if they are sticking out like a pinecone she might have dropsy. If possible try to post a picture of her.

I wouldn't go by the gravid spot in determining if a fish is pregnant. I have a spear tail platy that gave birth last week to approx 30 fry and she never had a gravid spot, she was just VERY fat She was naturally darker around the area where the gravid spot would be anyways....

I wouldn't use the gravid spot as an indication either. I've got some platties that never show a gravid spot and I have been surprised with fry. Even if they show a gravid spot you need to see how big the fish is to know how soon they will deliver. I have two cherry platys that I can faintly see a dark spot in when they are in just the right position under the tank light. My sunset platys are fairly easy to see a gravid spot in the yellow. My yellow Mickey Mouse is also easy to see. Lighter colors show the gravid spot easier than dark colored fish.
Watch for the "double chin" and she should begin to look square in the stomach area just before giving birth.

I would'nt stress I had a plattie that had no visible signs that she was pregnant I thought she was a dud So I was just using her as a breed net companion for my other fish. Two days later she had over 40 babies.

is she eating if not she might be sick if she hides away from people thats a sickness too u probley already no about ick and stuff but she might start getting a spot she might even just be fat

But bear in mind that lack of appetite and a tendency to hide away can also be a sign of imminent birth.
