Platy acting funky

In my 12 gallon tank I have 2 male platys. They aren't exactly any of the normal colors. I call them mutts. Anyway, one of my platys has been acting wierd lately.
He lies at the bottom in the mornings and then, when he finally starts swimming, he goes and hides in a decoration I have. He's still eating. Do you think he's lonely? Should I get him a mate? I've been planning onn getting him a friend or two, but I haven't been to my lfs in a week. *gasp* What do you guys think?

That may help but the two males might get competitive for her affection

Yeah, I thought about that. Maybe if I got 2 females? I hate it when this happens.
