My platty has been pregnant(100% sure shes pregnant) for a little over a month and still no fry.Shes not being stressed by any other fish,i've checked the water, the temp is always 79-81 degrees,i've fed her flakes and freeze dried blood worms and added aquarium salt.I do regular water changes but no results,is there something im doing wrong?
we were having the same problem and a few of our fish kept seeming to get huge and get a dark gravid spot but nothing was happening.
We couldnt find anything in particular that was wrong but came home today to find that our guppy had given birth, yey!!!!! unfortunately i think it was a while ago because we only managed to find 2 alive
I know what you mean about being inconvenient, we had been watching them constantly but nothing happened and as soon as we gave up she had fry!!)
We're trying to see if there was anything different which meant that this time she actually got round to giving birth and if we notice anything we'll let you know!
If you do decide to watch her, signs that she is ABOUT to give brith are rapid moving of the fins near their gills.....you will see her vent looking more square than usual...
I can see my plattys gravid spot, but shes not acting any different.Shes staying behind the plants a little, but she always does that. .I can see a little squaring of the ventral area but its been like that for a while.I guess all I need is patience
The same thing happens with my fish. I'm 100% sure they are pregnant, and it seems like FOREVER until they give birth. Just be patient, you'll have fry soon.
good luck with the fry . i had a pregnant molly about 4 years ago and she had 102 fry but she ate 1 which makes it 101 sadly only one of them didnt die and lived to grow big !!!!!!!!!
I'm just wondering how in the world you can count 102 fry I have 25 fry ( I THINK) and I can't get past 15 without getting confused on which ones I already counted!
when she was in the breeder net they were shooting out of her like ping-pong balls and i counted them as they came out i put them in a large container so it was big enough because the breeder net was too small for all of them !!!!!!!!
