Firstly, water stats are spot on and no other fish seem effected.

One of my 3 female platty is sick (no males in tank)

She has not been feeding for a few days now and spends most of her time on the bottom (upright and dorsal fin errect). She will swim in short bursts when disturbed.
She looks bloated and the anus looks slightly extended but otherwise normal.

I have been feeding peas as I suspected constipation.

Any further help would be appreciated.........will check back later!

Being bloated and enlarged anus can mean internal parasites.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Can you see anything prutruding from the anus.

Any chance of some picutres of it?

I agree with wilder but, it could be a simple case of them being pregnant (just cos there is no males presents doesnt mean they cant be pregnant, they can hold sperm packets for about 4-6 drops.)

yes i will say internal parasites, if her poo is long and white it is the case. you should buy treatment asap, and if there are other fish in there they will also need to be treated as well. As Wilder told me even if they such in some poop they will get the parasite. hope this helps i just treated my fish as well with internal parasite med they seem okay now. cheers.

Hi and thanks to all that replied.

One of the platty had stringy white poo a while back (weeks ago) so maybe it was this one.

As far as being pregnant I am guessing no as I have had them for 6 months or more and no males have ever been in the tank and they have never spawned but I have learnt that nothing is impossible with fish!

General feeling is internal parasite so will treat for that.
