I have two platies about to drop fry, so I might have to transfer some to my tank that has a male betta and five pristilla tetras. The betta and tetras don't mind each other, but how would they react to some platies? I'd put in seven tops.

EDIT: Both tanks are 20 gallons.

As in moving fry into the Betta and tetra tank? If so, they will be "live lunch" I suspect.

think it would pretty much go like this....

nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom.........nom.

I'd only move them when they got big enough. I know any fish will eat fry, given the chance ;)

I would be careful if they are red wagtail platys i bought a male betta with 2 plattys and the betta killed the one through stress chasing it around and nipping constantly, fish store told me he thought it was one of its own as the colour was red had to take him back was gutted :(

Good poit. Here's my new plan! I'll get the fry bigger in the tank they were born in with the platies. Once they're old enough to tell the gender of, I'll move males (they're less colorful than my females) into the betta tank and keep the females with the female babies. That way, it also prevents more breeding!
