I may have to set up a cheap tank to separate one of my fish and am looking at a plastic tank that comes with all the trimmings except for a heater. Someone mentioned to me that being plastic the heater will melt the tank?

Am recommendations or advice? Would not want to come home to water on the floor due to a hole melted through and poor fish dead! Many thanks!

they sell heaters with a little "basket" or endcap on the end so that the glass from the heater never comes in contact with the plastic/acrylic. i use these in two of my tanks and they are fine. if you have a heater without one of these baskets, use a rock or ornament to keep it propped away from the side.

Ah the ones I have, have sucker pads on them and think (can't remember) a guard, so in theory should be ok!! Wonderful thank you (depending on the tank may invest in a compact heater to save on space. :good:
