Has anybody bought plants from this site before that could recommend them? They were recommended to me by another member of this forum and upon looking at the site I came across a tropical tank package that consisted of approx. 55 plants for only £8.25 (or something like that lol)

Thanks in advance :)

I've heard mixed things about Plants Alive, some like them and some don't it seems. Never used them myself as I have always been happy with either Greenline or (when they sold plants) AquaEssentials. Greenline offer some very similar deals and I'd be very happy that all plants will be true aquatics. Examples from Greenline are here:

http://www.aquaticplants.eu.com/acatalog/N...ollections.html

Plants are very well packaged and labelled, with them being sent in boxes rather than some shops who send them in jiffy bags - bags often leave squashed plants and boxes rarely do.

I bought from plants alive and wasn't overly impressed. took about 4 weeks in total to get my whole order and that was only after I started chasing them. some of the plants where very good quality but others where pretty much dead.

Next time I will definitly use Greenline as I have heard a lot of good things about them.

I had a bad experiance with plants alive, all the stem plants they sent out got snapped due to improper packaging, the Salvina I bought from them had moth larvae eating it, and their 'potted plants' are literally the bunched plants shoved into a tiny pot at like twice the price (they don't even bother to take the lead weights off, they just cram them in the pots). The order was also missing stuff, but they didn't charge me for the plants they missed out.

When I complained they resent the order, with the exact same results as before  . All the plants I managed to salvage died too (but the tropica plants of the same species grew and thrived in the same tank).

So i wouldn't really recommend them  .

If I ever need plants before aquaessentials start selling them again, I'll probably go with greenline :good:.

Thanks for your quick replies!
Ok.. well it looks as though Im not going to be buying from them after all lol!
I will have a look at Greenline!

Thanks again!

Ive used Java, Greenline and Plantsalive.

Java i wouldnt touch again and the same goes for Plants alive. Greenline ive used on more than one occasion and have been very good. The main problem is the bloody Royal Mail who will insist on not ringing doorbells and proclaiming no one was home!

Greenline every time :) plantsalive are crap and that's putting it mildly.

Sam

This is all alledgedly of course, and is also personal opinion :) Don't want anyone getting sued!

Just to throw another seller in the mix, java-plants.com just won best online retailer in October's issue of PFK magazine (Yay, my first copy!) I've heard good things but never used them. Might order some stuff from them and see how it goes :)

I've used Greenline and have been pretty impressed. I think if I had to criticise, it'd be that there website needs updating. Its a bit awkward to navigate and some of the scientific names are slightly wrong on some plants (I tend to browse and then google plants I like to get more in-depth information). And theres sometimes scarce information about some plants.

That being said, it only takes a little research to figure out the info and I don't really see it as a big problem, and would happily recommend them to anyone :)

Agreed! his site is so ugly to use!
I spent no end of time looking for hm only to realise he sells it under its old name and I only realised when i looked on tropica's sight which is such a shame because he is such a good retailer
