ive got convicts jewels and soon to have a nic and jd ive been trying real plants but after awhile they all get ripped up by the cichlids, which makes them look manky and all ripped up i was wondering about changing to silk but was wondering if they would tear them up and how good silk plants look cheers for any advice.

also i have alot of debra on the gravel im guessing this is down to the bits of leaves and such? this is another reason i want to change cheers again

I keep cons and jewels too -plus a big plec. They've been in for 5 months now and all my silk plants are still intact, though they often uproot and overturn them! Fake plants work out cheaper in the end especially with cichlids who destroy real ones. Silk plants look realistic as they sway in the current and after a while develop a thin invisible (to humans) coat of algae which fish enjoy nibbling.

its a 4ft 55 uk g and ye i think i might try the slk plants have any of you got any pictures of your slk plants so i can see what they look like in tank cheers and thats good to know they dont rip the silk ones. andd i guess it makes cleaning the tank easyer as there is not root systems .
