Hi guys, after constant mind changing about plastic plants & real plants I've decided to go with real plants but I want those that can be attached to wood, I don't fancy putting stuff under my sand & the extra maintenance that comes with plants.

I have three pieces of bogwood, 1 of which is very large.. I have a 130lts tall tank, it's roughly 72cm tall so there's room for plants to grow but I have no idea about plants, what types or how to maintain them so I'm basically looking for types of plants that can be attached to the wood that are relatively easy to maintain as I'm a complete novice on real plants.

I'm getting a few moss balls which I understand just need to be rolled to maintain the shape, I would be grateful if people could recommend some wood attaching type plants maybe some tall one's that I could purchase for my tank.. I would be ordering online.

Thanks in advance.

if your lighting is good go with java moss ( my fave) java fern is lovely too as it can get really tall, ( both of which im sure someone on here would sell u ( prefable to getting out of an unknown tank)
both are just tied on with fishing wire or normal black cotton

Will have to check into the lighting it's the Aqua one 620T tank & I haven't changed the lights so whatever the tank came with is still present.. Will have check them.

Some nice massive clumps of Java Fern will do well under the lighting in your 620T. I believe they are 2x18w? Also, Anubias Heterophila would be a good choice as it is a very tall variety. Others you could go with is Anubias Barteri and Barteri Nana. Mosses are extremely easy to grow.

Good luck with your project. :)

Thanks for your suggestions, will defiantly look into all of them, I was a bit put off by mosses such as Christmas moss as my understanding was it was like a carpet covering the bottom of your tank which didn't do much for me.

Just checked & the lighting in the tank is indeed 2x18w

moss can be used anyway that you want. I have it growing as a carpet in one of my tanks ad on a branch in another...

Thanks for the pictures, just looked at the Java fern & the Anubias plants & I like them a lot, can these plants be grown on rock also or just wood ?? and what about the maintenance side do you just crop them back every now and then plus dosing with liquid ferts I suppose.

Anubias takes no care what so ever really. Java fern may require the odd leaf pulled off every now and then. Yes they can tied to what ever you wish. Ferts would not really be necessary if you have a good amount of fish.

Great stuff

Finally can you or anyone else recommend a good online shop were I can buy good quality aquatic plants ??

Thanks for your help Minnnt

Here? ColdCazzie has some Anubias for sale in the classifieds within the planted section. :good:

Other than that, Plants alive or the green machine are good.
