hey guys, a question from one of my mates who keeps silver dollars in a 80 gallon tank, he has had problems with the little blighters eating his live plants and wants to know which ones they wont touch, he would prefer low tech ones but he doesn't mind ones that are harder to keep.

What plants did he have that was recently eaten?

He should get feathery-leaved plants such as anacharis, cabomba or elodea or long-leaved ones such as vallisneria and sagittaria as plants with tough leaf stalks such as crypts, aponogetons, hygrophilas will be chewed upon.

Also, how many silver dollars does he keep? Bored dollars or individuals kept in loose groups of less than 6 fish tend to be plant nibblers. He should also keep them well-fed with plant-based fish food so his dollars won't go looking for additional food supplements.
