Plants On Wood

So im no good at all with live plants. Im looking for something like moss to cover a huge piece of bogwood. What would be a good/easy option. I should add there are 2 huge plecs in the tank

java moss , weeping moss, xmas moss, riccia (although not technically a moss)

So what would I do with it just place on the wood and watch it grow? Wont the plecs just tare it up?
