I need suggestions for live plants to go in my three betta tanks. They need to be pretty easy to take care of (I'm really not a wiz with these plant-things lol), and do alright with no filter. I've tried those bulbs you can get at Wal-Mart, and really didn't like how spindly and sparse they were.

The cardinal need of plants is light. Most nice plants need 2-3 watts per gallon.

The easiest for most purple thumbers and favorites of fish are Java fern and Java moss. They will both attach and grow on most anything. They can then be used with cloth plants and the Betta will make a bed on the moss at the top. Actually my Betta love the green algae when it gets all long and thick. lol

Easy plants - Hornwort, Java Moss, Java fern - all those will grow in low light with minimal tlc. They either float or should just rest on the bottom, no need to plant them.

I don't know why, but I can't think of what the little floating plant from SEAsia loved by top swimming bubble nesters is. It is a single clover shaped leaf. Loved and hated.

duckweed? the most evil overtaking plant ever? lol

 That's it! Loved and Hated! I got some over a year ago, and I still find a bit every once in awhile. lol

I actually have considered getting another bit.

I got hornwort once. It went right up the filter: WOOSHHH!!! All gone!

i know you wanted live plants but what about fake plants, you can get some silk, sofe plants out there somewhere, they may be a little more money but they will last and you wont have to worry about them, on the other hand,
some good live plantsthat are easy to care for are probally the most famous...java moss.java fern. these just either attatch/float or lie at the bottom.floating plants are useful for bettas too, duckweed like someone said eariler are good but grow fast and soon over run your tank, just cut them back when nessary.what about indian almond leaves, ive heard these are good for bettas, you might need to research these if your intrested as i dont know much about them.i ordered my java moss of the internet and came in such a big bunch i had to devide it between by tanks, it only cost about £1.
