I am a few days into my fishless cycle on my Fluval Edge, I have white gravel in it at the moment with some decorative stones and a couple of plastic plants, I was thinking of changing the gravel to sand as i think it looks nicer or what would be the best for some live plants? Would i be better setting the live plants up now before my cycle has finished and do you need to feed them to keep them healthy? Thanks

you won't need to feed the plants to keep them happy in an edge. You could grow anubias, microsorum and crypts in an edge, as well as some mosses. add them once the cycle had finished to avoid an algae outbreak.

Thanks for the tips, do you think i would be better with Gravel or Sand and do i just put them in and cover with Gravel/Sand to get them thriving? Thanks

Out of gravel and sand I would choose sand. If you go with sand bear in mind a light sand can make fish appear not as bright as they could do beacuse they don't feel secure so something like tahitian moon by carribsea would be good as this is almost black. Plant wise if you want a good substrate I would opt for Caribbsea eco complete as this is meant to be excellent for plant growth. It's more expensive (£17.99 per bag is the cheapest I found from Warehouse Aquatics)but you won't regret it. it's also black so will show off the fishes best possible colours.
