Hi all, I’m looking at adding some plants to a tank. I want a relatively cheap substrate and have heard play sand is good so I was thinking of using this and putting in root tabs.

The plants I was thinking of growing are dwarf sagittaria and Cryptocoryne wendtii green. Will these plants grow in sand. Also if you have any substrates that are good for growing plants but are relatively cheap to use instead of sand please let me know.

Thanks

Play sand is great for growing plants. It’s very very cheap. You can find it at $5 USD per 50lb’s.

As long as you give them root tabs, they will thrive.
