should be gettin my discus tank at the end of this week and i want it to be really heavily planted with a black sand sub, and one or maybe 2 small bits of bogwood

what peat should be beneath the sand? and how much of it?

i am thinking of gettin a couple of anubias-nana plants and seeding the bogwood with my java ferns daughter plantlets and some java moss, what other plants will do well with discus, cories and black neons? i would like some colour but more than that i want lots of different plants!

are you going to use RO water for you discus??

if yes then root feeding plant would be the best choise.. maybe some anabias and java fern but there will be almost no nutrience in the water for most fast growing plants..

If your starting from scratch to do a heavily planted tank it is also advisable too have or install a heater cable. These do a top job in promoting plant growth.

I would not even recomend a heater cable.. Its only for long term stability. But since you are in the UK you might have some benifit from it.. almost everywhere else in the world it of no use. maybe greenland or the northpole. lol
