My Riccia and other plants (like a grass) was growing very well (EI, lots of light and pressurised CO2) and suddenly over the weekend all of the grassy plant went a paler green and as if all the nutrients were leached out of it. The Riccia this morning seems to be doing the same. The only thing that has happened is that it was a very busy weekend and I haven't had a chance to do the water change yet - should have been done on Thursday but will be done tonight - haven't dosed since wednesday though. Florish Excel was being used to wipe out BGA which has started to reappear. CO2 dropperchecker is a healthy green with 4Dkh water. I think it is affecting other plants as there is more debris floating around the surface to remove each day.

Any ideas??

Have you used any medication lately?

Also if you have not dosed then the plants may have completely pulled all of the nutrients out of the water. Reduce lighting and dose plants again perhaps.

It does sound as though the fertilisers are depleted. Dose up the tank and give a few days of lowered light to let them recover

waterchange and dosed. moved some slower growing plants to the sides of the tank so they get less direct light and reduced algae growth. Reduced lighting to only 2 hours of high light.

We'll see what happens! Thanks for feedback!

my ricia hates flourish excel. It barely grows, which is a blessing in disguise seeing i havnt had to fix the carpet in 3 months! If i OD flourish excel, then it dies back. :(

Thats a good point, I hadn't picked up on the excel treatment, it could well explain why the plants are dieing back.
