Having replaced all artificial plants with real a few months back all was well at the begining. Now, the plants have got covered in brown stuff (algae?) There is loads of new growth which is bright green. Have been using fertilizer.
Am i right in saying 3-4 ottos will help (have ordered some from lfs.)

Is there an easy cure or at least help to slow down?

Any comments welcomed

pictures would be very beneficial so we can see what type of algae it is... probably is very much algae. your balanced is off somewhat. What are your tank specs.. what are you dosing for ferts.. all this info would help substantially.

The brown stuff is normal while the tank balances out.

Being new the plants will have reserves from when you bought them and therefore will not be taking as many nutrients as they will do eventualy.

Otos are reported to eat brown algae so yes

I think this is one for someone more experienced than I. don't think the ottos will eat that. looks more like a defficiency.

To the other poster ottos are compatible with 1 RTBS as RTBS should only be on their own unless you have a huge huge tank. 1 needs at least 55G maybe more
