Has anyone used salt and heat to treat a planted tank for ich? Did your plants make it? Should I just take the plants out during treatment? It's my sword plants that I really love and would be sad if they died?

I have been getting mixed info about salt and plants.

I in advertantly turned the heat up to 30oC on my 240L tank which had an extremely negitive effect on most of my plants...

The Angelfish were fine with it tho!

I currentlý have 3 amazon swords in a cycling tank. The temp is kept at 86degrees F. And my salt is 1/2 tsp per gallon. My plants are floruishing. Theyeve produced 3-5 new leaves each in the 2 weeks I've had them. It seems I only have problems with them if I put them in the current of my filter. So not saying you'll be fine, but this is my experience.

Thanks guys. I forgot about this post and I took the swords out and shocked them. :( I put them in hot water then let it cool down they all wilted. They are growing back What I did was stupid. I know I should have just left them in but did not want to hurt them but I ended up doing more damage. Grrr you live you learn. The Crytp and Java fern did fine with the salt. The heat is still at 86F and plants are doing fine.

Plants love a tank that is cycleing . I cycled my tank with plants and they did great. nitrites and nitrates even ammoina are all food for plants.

it depends what plants. Plants like vallis as you mentioned can withstand brackish water, but echinodorous probably wont be able too.
I have added salt in the past, cant remember what for, it was just one of tose things to add as it said it would help on the box with fish health etc.
The levels I was dosing didnt raise the sailinity that much though, bettaboysgirl levels sound familar, there were only a few plants in - cabobma, java fern and maybe some hygrophillia.
