Planting Idea Need Input Please

Ok i have peice of wood that is a y shaped tunnel 3 openings all conecting. I was thinking trying to make a small hill out of it with the openings under the hill for the fish to swim in or hide. would riccia but good to use for a project like this? LFS said it is having a hard time getting java moss in. Is there anything else that would make as a good mesh cover to make this a hill? Will being trying to find some good mesh plastic later this week to tie everything down to and make a small design. Will be tough project for little 3" hill but think it would look really neat if it works. How long do the roots get on Riccia? would they end up blocking the tunnel underneath? or would just ordering java moss online be better?

great idea but firstly i'll point out that riccia does not have roots. it is a floating plant that you trap between wood/rock and a hairnet to keep it submerged. within 2/3 months it will break free and need doing again. java moss however will attach itself to the wood and will just need a monthly trim.

riccia would look better but java mos would be more managable so it's up to you.
