i started this

http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showto...35&#entry931435

and found out that i could have this tank planted
what do i need to do this

i was thinking of a 55 gallon with 110 wts
what do i need to know to start
what do i need to get
how should i do this
what plants should i get

i would really like to not have to get co2
i just dont want to be bothered
o yea and ferts
i dont want to go crazy
with money and work

so
what do you say

With 110W in a 55G you will need CO2 IMO otherwise you will be constantly fighting off algae issues. Although you will only have 2 Watts per Gallon, this is still quite a lot of light in a larger tank.

I understand you wishing to take the less expensive route but to stand the best chance of success with plants you really need CO2 injection. Have you considered DIY CO2?

If you are really set against CO2 and ferts then I'd stick to less than around 75W and grow easy stem plants, Anubias, Crypts, Java fern, moss etc.

Choose your tubes wisely to minimise algae.

i have a 55 gal and have been doing the same research. just seems like a little too much work for me right now, as i am still just learning the basics of water chemistry and the fish themselves. so i have the genuine artificial plants for now, lol. dont mean to hijack your thread, but if you have plants, would you need to remove the carbon media from the filter?

i got lost while reading the thread ?!?! couldn't find the question... what was your question again ? :*)

what is everything i need to set up a 55 gallon for plants ????
i was aiming more twords the low priced side :*)
I do not have the tank now but i will be getting one and i wonder what i need
