Planning on moving my tank from artificial plants and rocks to a planted tank. Over the years I've grown away from bright things and enjoy the more natural look of things.
I'm sure someone will give me a link from a previous thread, but that's ok. What are the basics of starting a planted tank, and what do you need to buy/what is recommended for one? Also, this means I have to do fishless cycling again, doesn't it?

thanks a lot,
SoL

I dont think you have to re-cycle your tank...The equipment you'll need depends on what type of plants you want...There are some real hardy plants which take the basic of care...and some which are very sensitive and not for beginners..Lighting is probably the biggest issue with plants...I have java ferns/amazon swords and have grown quite nicely with minimum of equipment. There are some good pinned articles which list some hardy easy to grow plants. HIH :)

If I do this, I will have to replace my rocks with sand and gravel, ridding the tank of beneficial bacteria. So this doesn't matter?
Thanks for your help
