Hi Guys,

Wondering if you could help me please with my tank had it for about 6 months now and decided i want to make it a planted tank
i have a river reef 48l .. its for my room so nothing too big as is my first tank also.

i have been thinking of how to landscape it but to be honest i havent got a clue, i thought id ask the experts for help so it looks professionally done rather than just randomly done.

i have attached a pic of current set up.. im getting rid of the castle before u ask lol it doesnt look right. i cant really think of a way to cover the blue background as the filtration system is built into the tank so i cannot just but a piv over it..

i would appreciate any of your comments/ideas and your time in helping me with this project

Many Thanks,

Jon :good:

in agreement with geoff, that tank is way too small for an angel. wat other fish u got there?

Yeh im probably going to be giving him to my brother he has a 125l tank.. because he is rather big

i have a few tiger barbs, a pleque and a few neons dunno wot the orange ones are but im just looking to make my tank more natural looking.

i know a few people have said my tank is slightly overstocked but they are all healthy and had none dead yet (touchwood)

Any suggests appreciated

Your tank is over stocked.

They arent dead yet but they will not live a full life in that tank. You need to either upgrade your tank or rehome some fish...

Yer i have been speaking to my bro about this and because he has a much bigger tank with only a few fish in it he is going to take about 5-6 fish off my hands instead of taking them back to the shop...

What do u think about my plant idea thou ? plants are good for the tank enviroment arent they

i was thinking about maybe a java moss floor and a few background plants to cover the background also thinking of java mossing the drift wood but heard this maybe difficult

Cheers

Jon

Well you need to look at your co2 as you wont get co2 by surface agitation,

Also java moss is easy to grow. Maybe use multiple types of mosses?

erm might sound stupid but how? And what would I need to buy?

As for the moss are there any types you would suggest? And maybe some hardy but nice looking plant types?

Cheers

i agree with geoff

if u got the money, get pressurized, if not get Liquid Co2 or try homemade ;)

All types of mosses are easy to grow in all honesty; they can do fine without Co2 and ferts

Thanks for the info guys..

i've had a look and how is this stuff

CO2

would this be suitable ?

i'm going to the store tomorrow to get plants

i will show you how im getting on

Cheers

Never heard of it...

I'd either go DIY fermentation made out of a coke bottle or DIY pressurized made using a fire extinguisher myself.

But if you really dont want to go for DIY then id recommend the nutrafin co2 kit and George farmers DIY mix.

If you want some suggestions for plants,

Id get some vallis and amazon swords for the back, some anubias bart v. nana which you would anchor to your wood and some willow moss for the wood as well and then java moss to tie to the slate.

Ok I will ask them tomorrow and get them if available or nearest alternatives

I'll probs post some pics once done

I've heard thou for anchoring to wood cotton thread can decay is this ok 2 use?

Cheers
