Id use fishing line myself.

Also be careful about what you buy. A lot of shops wont think twice about selling you non-aquatic plants.

Ok Ill check it out and I'll try and also get some line too

cheers

I'm thinking of letting the java moss grow more first as its on a mesh and then may buy some more mesh and create a carpet

Cheers

Looks like vallis.

Can i make a suggestion?

Spread the vallis out across the back and it will send out runners and before you know it it will be a nice thick background. Then let it grow and it will curl over and grow across the top of the water creating some jungle style cover for the fish.

They java moss wont carpet itself but if you buy more mesh and keep trimming it and tieing the cuttings to mesh you will end up with a java moss carpet eventually.

Yes no problems i will do this as i'm trying to block the background out...

I have T5 lighting and i have been told this is very good for plant growing so it shudnt take too long to fill in i think probs a couple weeks...

I'm gunna get some more mesh when i can and start with the carpet but i think the tank looks way better already so once the plants start filling out can only look better as long as i trim them every now and then to promote new growth..

I've also heard java moss grows like crazy so i need to keep on top of it how do i trim it correctly with the strands going everywhere (probs stupid question)

The fish already seem to love swimming in them so all is :good: thanks for your help

Cheers

Yeah once vallis takes off it really grows. Im constantly uprooting new plants up to 6 inches away and cutting their running and putting them where i prefer.

Java moss doesnt grow THAT just give it hair cut like you would with grass.

Might be easiest to let it get really tall first so its easier to tie onto the new mesh.

Ok cool i'll update my progress to show you when it all grown in :good:

I'm really liking the whole planted thing now lol dunno y i put that castle in there think it was an impulse buy
