hello all, so i will be purchasing a new arcardia arc 35L fish tank at the end of the month which i will be keeping in my bedroom and using as a shrimp tank. also this tank will be low tech usig no co2 but i might add liquid ferts for the plants once i have it all up and running. this is my plans for it all:

set up:
arcardia arc 35L tank(28x40x33cm(WxLxH))
using built in filter(200L/H)
superfish combi 25w heater
11w light(comes with tank)
2kg bag of fluval shrimp stratum
2-3 small pieces of bogwood
2-3 small pieces of landscaping rocks

Plants:
1x anubias nana bonsai(to attach to one of the pieces of wood)
2x eleocharis acicularis
1x lilaeopsis novea-zealandie
1x micromanthemum limbrosum
1x vescularia dubyana
2x chladoflora
(sorry if any names are wrong, these are of aqua essentials)

stocking:
to start with im only going to have 4 chery shrimp as i am hoping they will breed. once there is a sufficient amount i am going to add 6+ ember tetra(these will only be there for a month or 2 whilst my 60L will be cycling again and whilst im setting that up, but also to keep the shrimp at a decent amount so they dont overcrowd the tank)

so this will be a journal(hopefully) and i will try and keep it updated, as soon as i get the tank i will upload pictures and get it all sorted! if there is any problems with this setup dont hesitate to let me know! rather that than do something wrong!

thanks all.

Glad we could help you make your mind up on the tank.

Just one thing, although cherry shrimp are 'prolific breeders', in reality, they take around a month to drop babies, you wont really get overcrowded quickly. Are you getting adults?

thanks and yes you were alot of help! yeah i was wandering about that so im thinking i might have to start with more like 10, that way when theyre all adults i should get quite a few babies.

right so now going with the superfish aqua qube 25L tank, mum didnt like the idea of a 35L in my room, but im thinking ill probably still get it anyway because im like that haha. also considering the arcardia arc 20L. thing is i really want a small shoal of ember tetra(6-8), but with the 20L or the 25L i wouldnt be able to as the tank will be to small. what to do? be cheeky and get the 35L then mum cant do anything about it, or go with the arc 20L or the qube 25L!?

thanks to all!

You could have some microrasbora instead of the embers?

well ive read that microrasbora can get to 3.5cm where as embers can get to 2cm? im not sure really, help would be appreciated.

Micro Rasbora's are called that for a reason... They're micro! Never seen a 3.5cm Micro Rasbora. They basically look and stay like fry!

Why not the 35 litre in your bedroom? I can pick mine up when it's full of water, gravel, plants, wood and fish. They're not heavy if that's the concern. Also having a 35 litre will give you more scope for fish and shrimp.

Like Minnnt says, although the difference is 15 litres, the size difference is just a few inches, check the dimensions.

And yeah microrasboras dont get to 3.5cm. In my lfs they are around 1.5cm and i woild guess they might reach 2cm

thanks guys! well i think im going to just get the 20 and just have shrimp, then once weve had our garage into room conversion downstairs i will set up the 60L again and have embers in there! so this one is just for cherries, maybe CRS, not sure atm.

thanks again!

yeah they look it and have only heard good reviews about them! im stuck between the arc 20L and the qube 25L though, the arc will be a better tank for a hardscape where as the cube would be good for a more 'rooty' scape, im not sure, prefering the arc but any ideas guys?

Is the cube the p@h one? Its good but the Arc is they way to go, prefer the shape too

urm not sure and i have to agree the arc is the better choice, especially for a hardscape as it is longer. thanks guys been alot of help!
