Right, fingers crossed this next week (finally) im going to start gathering the bit and bobs needed to start a planted tank, im thinking of having discus in this tank but i want to get a well established eco system shall we say, running before i think about what fish to get so I'm wanting the plants to be well established first.

So my question to all you planted experts is what's needed, i have a fluval 405, 2x 6000LPH powerheads, 2X 39W T5 Tropical bulbs(lighting) and that's the basics. So i was just wondering if people could give me some advice on what to get next and what's best etc.. Im wanting to go down the higher tech route, so any help with products etc will be greatly appreciated :)

If your looking to go Hi-tech Pressurised CO2 in my opinion is essential... cheapest route is to get a CO2 fire extinguisher. You can pic up cheap regulators on ebay. I use a solenoid on mine so I can set up on a timer when the CO2 comes on and off. You will need some fertiliser too... I use TPN+ although its getting quite expensive and may look to start making my own.

Oh and sorry I may have missed... how bigs the tank?
