Plant With Crazy Roots

Hi

My plant is growing out of control, and is doing something i've never seen before. There is loads of roots growing from halfway up the stem. It's beginning to look quite bad, can i just snip them off or will it kill the plant?

their ariel roots, and they can be cut off no problems.
