After looking at several photos of other people's tanks, I've come to find mine quite boring! I want my fish to have as much swimming room as possible, hence the reason why I got a bigger tank.
Seeing the picture of my aquarium now, can you suggest some other plants that I could replace them with? I don't want to take up a lot of room.

My aquarium, which compared to others...more beautiful tanks....really shows me what a noob I am! LOL

Do real plants require a lot of maintenance? Do Guppies and Platies like any particular plant?

anubias, java moss and java fern are all plants that take very little maintinence! :hyper:

your plants are ok, but maybe you should get some ones that grow on the bottom rather than all straight up.

just a thought.

I personally think, a dark background would do the tank some justice :)

steady, you think all tanks could use a dark background.

jk

all those are fake...

Firstly do you have a light in your tank?

if yes then i would suggest java moss and java fern like esfa suggested. The moss and roots from the java fern would also be a great place for the fry to hide!

If you do get either make sure you tie them both down to something (rock, wood whatever) and not bury them in the gravel :good:

Shhhhh lol, im trying to convert the world

Yeah i like dark backgrounds, think it gives it a more ermmm how can i explain it? deeper depth look

uhh, i cant wait to get some plants in my tank! do you need anything before you can put in the plants?

water?

depends on the plant really, with plants like java fern as long as there is light they grow (so long as your water is ok obviously)

oh and by the way a common plec grows WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to big for a 10g!!

oh, i know. the petland people are letting us exchange everytime it gets too big, then they sell the big ones to people with big tanks.

Thanks for all the comments. What do you mean 'tie the plants down'? Burying them in gravel was exactly what I was thinking I had to do. LOL So I won't do that now. I don't really have anything to tie things down to in the aquarium. What would work?
I agree about the dark background. I want one for both of my aquariums.
