Ok I know this sounds very strange but here we go.

Just setting up a new tank, no fish in it yet.

Want to put in a pot plant pot, the cheap terracotta type (not glazed) you get from the garden centre as a feature, is there any reason why not? It would be washed first and as I said there is no fish in the tank yet.

I have seen on some gravel and the like a warning not for aquatic use as it could affect the PH levels just wanted to make sure this would not.

i have one in mine  its actually quite nice  my ph hasnt changed at all been in ther about 28 hours (ish) :D
Hi,
I have to halves of terracotta flowerpot in mine and i have had them in it for about a year so. Yeah, try it. Make sure that you don't leave sharp edges if you are having a half just in case any fish scrape against it. Sand it down thats what i did.
Thanks

thats what I thought, well its works like this

Plant Pot £0.75p
Air Stone £0.50p
2meters of air line £1.00

Nice looking feature - £2.25

or spend £20.00 on a bit of plastic made to look like an old ship :X

Change = £17.75p or 5 pints and a curry :D

It's probably fine, but I personally don't do that.

i am sure it will be fine and its you personnal preference anyway as its your tank, make sure you post a picy when its done :)

looks good! :)

i have them in some of my tanks... sometimes to hold/hide the airstone like you but also my lake tang cichlids love them....i turn them upside down and drill the holes in the bottom to make them a little bigger so my fish can get in and out and they love to hide in them... :)

wow that is cool :good: mine isnt that good :-( ah well, great looking tank though :)

just set it up today, as you can see no fish yet!!

must be murder for them stuck in a little 70l tank with a 240l tank empty just a couple of yards away

won't be too long now

I love the slate thing/hide away at the end, is that homemade?

is it cycling without fish? how long roughly till you get some fish? what are you planning to get? :fun:

*sorry about all the questions  *

the slate thing - two slabs of slate and a couple of small rocks - even gone and took a photo just for you

the strange looking thing behind the slate is an air bubble (camera set on no flash mode so slow shutter speed)
