At the moment I have a 24” 20 watt fluorescent bulb in my 29 gal aquarium lamp, which only gives me a WPG of .69. I cannot afford to upgrade this lamp since I just went back to school so I was thinking of taking 2 clip on desk lamps (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=191955-77383-2040-000&lpage=none) and using a 30 watt twist compact fluorescent bulb in each light (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=44433-3-29392&lpage=none). Then I’m going to clip each light to my stand and point them up into the aquarium from the sides. This will give me a total of 80 watts, which will bump my WPG up to 2.79. Do you think this will be OK until I can afford a light upgrade?

Well I’m assuming no one has answered this question because it’s a bad route to go.
