Hi. One of my LFS's has this display tank which catches my eye every time I go there. It's amazing, full of plants, rainbows, congos's etc etc. Anyway, it's the dark plant in the foreground I'm interested in. This mobile pic doesn't really do it justice but it's kind of a dark maroon colour and contrasts superbly with the greenery and rainbow fish; especially the Kutubu's. I want to get hold of some of this myself and wondered if any of you could help identify what it is? Any help much appreciated!

Thanks :good:

the ones at the front look lke Cryptocoryne wendtii. I might be wrong, but it looks like it. Nice tank though, what size is it?

Cheers Ian. I have some Wendtii already or at least that's what they were labelled as. Mine are very green though so do they change over time or are there different varieties?

The tank is a 350 litre, Juwel I think.

i also have Wendtii Red and mine are Maroon, i think it has a lot to do with whether your adding CO2 or not. Has the one at the LFS got CO2 running?

Yeah it does. I thought that may have had something to do with it. I don't have C02 myself but the leaves on mine are rounder and fatter than these.

like i say i maye be wrong, i'm sure someone will come along and correct me.

Looks like red wendtii kept with CO2 to me as well. I have the same plant, but the it doesn't get as purple for me since I do not inject CO2. Great plant.
