Plant Food?

I'm new to live plants, ans I was just wondering what else do plants need? besides light. thnx for the help

All plants need light, CO2 and nutrients to grow.

Without going in too deeply a successful planted tank has all three of these components in balance. If the balance is off then algae will grow, if the balance is good then the plants will grow and fend of any algae. Simple eh?
