Hello all, as the title says I'm planning to buy 55Gallon Tank which I found in the classified section of the newspaper the tank will cost me 30 dollars with filter and air pumps. I havent seen the tank yet so im not sure if im going to buy it. But I wouldnt know what kind of a person would have a 55gallon tank with no heater. Maybe they kept goldfish. Anywho is it a good deal for 30dollars or should I just try the LFS?

P.S: Can someone give me suggestions on what I can put in it?

30 bucks is pretty good for a tank of 55gallons, but it really depends on the condition. You know even coldwater can be fun (danios, minnovs, wether faced loaches...). You should make it a planted tropical tank and should stock it with many different appistogramma and rams (wel not that many)(Ihave other stuff in mind, this just sounds the best.

Yeah I knew that it was a good deal, I just wanted to make sure. As for the condition, what do you think can happen to a fish tank? I know there are still risks that it might be leaky or something, thats pretty much the only thing thats going through My mind. Does anyone have any warm-water fish suggestions?

Condityon: well scratches are always an issue.
Sugesstions: If you think you are ready (and have the money) you could try disscus. Or you could try angels with some bigger tetras like black widows. Or you could go with liveberers. Or go with corys. Or you could get some different tetras. The solutions are endless...

I was thinking about Lake Malawi Chichilds. Like the Electric Yellow. They look pretty nice and fairly easy to take care of yet the tank is supposed to be heavly planted with lots of hiding spots and having a High PH.

Um...you don't want any cichlids with plants....thats a mojor no-no.
I have both the electric blue johhni and the electric yellow, both of them love to dig and move rocks.
With cichlids you either want sand or large gravel. Since african cichlids LOVE to move things around with their mouths, it can be very, very dangerus for them if you have small gravel.
I suggest posting in the Af. Cichlid forum.

And the deal sounds good, I spent $400+ on my 55G African Cichlid tank

Yeah I just found out they move things around. I always wondering how strong they were. :p . I was going with sand in the first place because I never had a tank that had a sand bedding. For the chichild tank I saw some baby chichilds that were the size of a guppy so I want to go back and get them once the tank is cycled. I hope they dont grow too big before I get them.
